Frequently asked questions
Need more info? Check out our most frequently asked questions.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes — a 50% deposit confirms your booking, with the remaining balance due one month before arrival.
What's your cancellation policy?
For accommodation: cancellations made more than 30 days before arrival are free of charge. Cancellations between 7 and 30 days before arrival incur a 50% fee. Cancellations less than 7 days before arrival are non-refundable (100%). For other services (lift passes, lessons, equipment, transfers) the relevant supplier’s own cancellation terms apply.
What's the nearest airport to Val Thorens?
Chambéry is closest, at around 1h30 by road. Geneva is the most popular gateway for international flights (roughly 2h30–3h), with Lyon and Grenoble as further alternatives. Val Thorens has no train station of its own — the nearest is Moûtiers, about 45 minutes away. We’re happy to help arrange your transfer.
What about parking if we're arriving by car?
Parking in Val Thorens is mandatory — you can’t simply leave your car on the street. There are several options: parking included with your accommodation (where available) or the Valtopark car park. We’re happy to help you choose and arrange the option that suits you best.
Do we need snow chains to drive to Val Thorens?
Yes, we’d recommend carrying them. The approach road is a mountain route that can require chains or winter tyres during snowfall — France’s “Loi Montagne” also requires winter equipment on many mountain routes during the winter season. We recommend keeping chains in the car and knowing how to fit them, even when they’re not currently required.
When does the ski season run?
Typically late November to early May — one of the longest seasons in the Alps, thanks to the altitude.
Do you arrange lessons for beginners and children?
Yes — we arrange ski and snowboard lessons for every level, including first-timers and kids, with instructors matched to your group.
Do I need to arrange my lift pass in advance?
We recommend it — we can arrange your lift pass ahead of time along with everything else, so there’s no queuing at the ticket office once you arrive. Just tell us your dates and how many days you’ll need.
What types of lift passes are available?
There are two main options: the Val Thorens – Orelle pass, covering the local circuit with 150 km of pistes, and the Les 3 Vallées pass, which opens up the whole interconnected area — including Courchevel and Méribel — with 600 km of pistes. We’re happy to help you choose the right one.
Can you help with off-piste or ski touring routes?
Yes. Beyond the marked pistes, we can point you toward touring lines and off-piste terrain suited to your experience level.
Is Val Thorens a good fit for non-skiers or mixed groups?
Very much so. Between the spa and pool, snowmobiling, the zipline, toboggan run and mountain restaurants, there’s plenty for anyone who isn’t spending the day on skis.
What languages do you speak?
Slovak, French and English.
What if something comes up during my stay?
We’re reachable throughout your stay for anything you need — that’s the whole point of a concierge service.
